Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn Share Their Unique Approach to Finances
Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn have carved out a rather unconventional path in their marriage, which has lasted 18 years. Recently, they opened up about how they handle their finances, and it’s not what many might expect.
In an interview with Andy Cohen, Romijn, who is 52, revealed, “We keep our money completely separate.” This caught many off guard. As they manage their household expenses, Romijn explained that they maintain a communal fund for shared costs. “We actually put in money quarterly,” she noted.
O’Connell chimed in, mentioning how they’ve worked out a system based on who earns more. “If one person is working more, they contribute a bit more,” he said. They both emphasized that this arrangement allows them to collaborate effectively, essentially tag-teaming in their responsibilities.
After welcoming their twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly, in 2008, the couple made a firm decision to prioritize being present for their children. “No one else is going to raise them except us,” Romijn added, underscoring their commitment.
The topic surfaced during a light-hearted exchange when Cohen joked about the financial situation post-O’Connell’s hosting role on CBS’s “The Talk.” O’Connell and Romijn tied the knot in 2007, just two years after her divorce from John Stamos. Although Stamos has made some harsh comments about Romijn in his memoir, where he referred to her in negative terms during their marriage’s decline, O’Connell’s focus remains on their family and how they manage the narratives surrounding their lives.
O’Connell addressed the impact of Stamos’ comments, acknowledging the scrutiny that their children might face as teens navigating social media. “You don’t want to add fuel to that fire,” he concluded, highlighting the challenges of raising a family in the public eye.
