Two migrants reportedly attacked a man in Milan, Italy, after targeting another individual with a glass bottle, leaving him injured.
Nick Peregrino from Staten Island was enjoying his time in Milan, but things took a dark turn when he boarded a train this week. New York Post has reported on the incident.
An Arabic-speaking North African immigrant is accused of stabbing him in the neck with a knife, stealing his luggage and jewelry, then fleeing the scene.
The emergency crew indicated that Peregrino lost about a liter and a half of blood. He was saved when he reached a train platform, where a teenager noticed him and sought help. Although the suspect has been arrested, his identity has not yet been disclosed.
Peregrino was quickly taken to a hospital, where a surgeon treated his wounds.
In a phone interview, he expressed his frustration, stating, “These loose immigration laws allow individuals to enter countries and harm others; it feels like a playground for violence.”
He added, “It’s unsettling. I know America has its own immigration problems, but it seems worse here.”
Prior to the train incident, the suspect had allegedly attacked an elderly man with a glass bottle and stolen jewelry from a woman.
Earlier in January, Italian police had been looking into reports of sexual assaults involving “Islamic rituals” against young women in Milan, allegedly by a group identified as “second generation North African men,” according to Breitbart News.
Italy has seen a significant increase in immigrants arriving from various countries including Nigeria, Sudan, Gambia, Morocco, Eritrea, Tunisia, Bangladesh, and Syria.
In March 2023, an illegal North African immigrant was arrested in Milan following a stabbing and robbery incident.
Reports later indicated that Alessandro Cattaneo, a member of the Italian parliament from the central-right, warned that certain areas in Milan were becoming “out of control” due to violent incidents involving Moroccan immigrants.
After the attack, Peregrino stated that his faith had become even more important to him. “I have no doubts anymore. This is my belief. I know that Jesus saved me, and I will always follow Him,” he said.
