Stacey Abrams Considers Third Run for Governor

Stacey Abrams, the Democratic candidate for governor in Georgia, has not dismissed the possibility of a third campaign. In a recent interview, she expressed that true Christians should embrace left-leaning perspectives.

“I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I can’t overlook the urgency of 2025,” Abrams mentioned. She emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair election in 2026, as many hopes are resting on that midterm.

Abrams served as the minority leader in the Georgia House from 2011 to 2017 but lost her bid for governor in 2018 to Brian Kemp, and subsequently lost again in 2022.

Views on Progressivism and Faith

In her discussion, Abrams shared her belief that Christianity should align with progressive values, stressing her commitment to helping others, including immigrants. “I witnessed firsthand how vital education and faith are, and those principles guide me,” Abrams reflected, noting her faith comes first.

She continued, stating, “It’s hard to call oneself a Christian if one ignores the responsibility to assist those in need or to stand against negative rhetoric aimed at the LGBTQIA community.” Abrams’s views reflect a push toward a more inclusive interpretation of faith.

Critiques of Military Deployment and Policy

Abrams also took aim at former President Donald Trump’s directive to deploy military forces to Los Angeles, which she labeled a “violation of democratic principles.” This move, enacted in response to protests against immigration enforcement, had sparked violence, including attacks on law enforcement.

She expressed concern over Trump’s executive orders, arguing they could establish a framework for unjust actions historically deemed wrong. Abrams worries that such orders could lead to further division and dehumanization of various communities.
