Kamala Harris ridiculed for celebrating her presidential campaign anniversary

On Monday, former Vice President Kamala Harris marked a year since her unsuccessful presidential campaign. It was a year ago that then-President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race and subsequently backed Harris as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

To commemorate the occasion, Harris shared a post on X, featuring images from her previous campaigns. She reflected on her journey, stating, “A year ago, I launched a campaign for the President of the United States. I had the honor of traveling across our country and meeting Americans who are committed to a better future over the course of 107 days.”

Interestingly, actor Jeff Daniels expressed his disappointment in the outcome, suggesting that Harris’s leadership style reminded him of Abraham Lincoln, which raised some eyebrows.

Not everyone had kind words for her, though. Many users on social media criticized the anniversary post, noting the absence of any reference to Biden. One user, Amy Curtis, quipped, “You didn’t get a single major vote. How democratic.” A report by the Republican National Committee highlighted that being a candidate without any votes is not quite the achievement one might hope for.

Political commentator Link Lauren also chimed in, noting the difficulty of trying to distance oneself from Biden given their shared history during his administration.

This reflection comes amidst broader conversations within the Democratic Party about the implications of Biden’s sudden exit from the race a year prior, with some suggesting that it marked a shift in the political landscape.

Dan McLaughlin from National Review pointedly questioned why the campaign had started on a specific date back in July. Meanwhile, writer John Hawkins reminisced humorously about that launch, while Kurt Schlichter cheekily remarked on Harris’s overall reputation and perceived failure.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Harris’s team for any comment regarding the anniversary and its implications.

According to FEC filings, the Harris Campaign spent over $1 billion in the first three months on various initiatives, including celebrity endorsements and private travel, ultimately losing to President Donald Trump in November.
