Massie Starts Another Dispute with Trump, This Time About Epstein

Thomas Massey vs. Trump Over Epstein Files

Representative Thomas Massey from Kentucky is currently at odds with former President Donald Trump regarding the release of government documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Massey is set to present a binding resolution on Monday, which would compel Attorney General Pam Bondi to disclose all documents associated with Epstein and his alleged associates. This effort comes amid criticisms from Trump.

Massey’s so-called “Phase 2 of the Epstein Files” seems to have struck a nerve with Trump, who took to social media to express his disdain. “The worst Republican lawmaker and votes that are barely guaranteed each time are embarrassing to Kentucky,” Trump remarked. He also criticized Massey as “lazy” and “completely dishonest,” suggesting he seeks someone else to run against him.

The resolution proposed by Massey aims to ensure that Epstein’s records are not withheld or altered based on potential embarrassment or political sensitivity. Additionally, it requires Bondi to produce an unclassified summary detailing the contents of any classified or withheld materials.

In response to the backlash from Trump, Massey said, “I introduced only binding legislation, released the Epstein Files, and already have 20 sponsors. In return, the attack on me has intensified.” He emphasized his determination to continue fighting rather than retreating and even linked to his fundraising page to seek support.

Interestingly, some Kentucky lawmakers have also opposed Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” advocating for cuts in federal spending and deeper national deficits.

In a derogatory comment, Trump referred to Massey as his “ancestor,” suggesting he should be voted out of Congress. The two have had previous disagreements, including a recent dispute over military actions concerning Iran.

Massey has cautioned in interviews that Trump’s actions could ultimately backfire, indicating the complexities of their ongoing conflict.
