Allegations of Human Trafficking in Houston
A disturbing incident in Houston has come to light involving illegal immigrants and allegations of human trafficking. Surveillance footage reportedly captures a man, identified as Jose Armando Carcamo Permodo, returning a Chinese immigrant woman to his trailer home. She was allegedly held captive and mistreated for several days.
The video shows the woman visibly distressed as she struggles and yells for help. Neighbors alerted the police after witnessing her fleeing down the street, only to be pulled back by the suspect, who was reportedly yelling at her. Authorities found her confined in a closet, lacking food and water.
Additionally, a Texas woman has been arrested on charges of smuggling illegal immigrants concealed in a box. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, she was misled into thinking she would start a new job as a masseuse in Texas. Instead, she faced a terrifying ordeal, being tied up and restrained for over five days.
John Krafka, from the Sheriff’s Adult Special Crimes Division, described the horrifying conditions. He stated that the victim was bound using makeshift restraints. Permodo was arrested on July 14 and now faces several charges, including kidnapping and assault.
Permodo, who illegally entered the U.S. from Honduras in 2020, previously had his case dismissed by an immigration judge in 2023. The Department of Homeland Security expressed concerns about the potential risks posed to the community by individuals like Permodo, emphasizing their commitment to addressing illegal immigration.
The investigation is ongoing, with officials suspecting that this case could be linked to a more extensive human trafficking operation in Harris County.
Authorities stress the importance of ensuring the safety of victims, who require proper medical care and support. Meanwhile, Permodo’s legal representation has publicly declared his innocence, urging that he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
