Late-Night Assault Caught on Camera in Philadelphia
Last month, a man was recorded on video abruptly attacking a woman in a corner store near the University of Pennsylvania, as reported by Philadelphia police. The incident took place around 11 p.m. on April 22 in the University City area, known for its lively student atmosphere and generally safe environment.
Authorities shared that the confrontation began with a disagreement inside the store. It escalated when the man allegedly spat on the woman and then lunged at her, punching her in the face before fleeing the scene.
Police have released surveillance footage that shows the man and woman entering the store simultaneously, with the man pursuing the woman as she walked through the aisles. The victim seemed visibly upset, which may have contributed to the escalating argument.
As the altercation intensified, the man threw several heavy punches at the woman’s head, knocking her into a shelf before she fell to the ground. Attempts by nearby bystanders and store employees to intervene were unsuccessful. It’s worth noting that a friend of the suspect was seen trying to pull him away during the attack.
Police are still looking for the suspect, who was dressed in all black and wearing a hat marked with the Philadelphia Eagles logo.
Unfortunately, the female victim sustained multiple injuries and is actively involved in victim support and advocacy, as stated by Fox 29 Philadelphia. Anyone with details regarding the suspect is encouraged to contact the authorities at 215-686-TIPS or the Southwest Detectives at 215-686-3183.
