Trump Calls for Accountability on Obama Over Alleged Intelligence Manipulation
President Donald Trump has claimed that former President Barack Obama should face charges related to an alleged orchestration of the misinformation surrounding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, where Trump was running against Hillary Clinton.
The FBI initiated an investigation in July 2016, dubbed Crossfire Hurricane, to look into these claims.
Trump argues that Obama authorized surveillance of his campaign. He also suggests that key figures within the FBI and intelligence community were driven by political motives during their investigation, searching for supposed links between Trump’s campaign and Russia, despite the lack of credible evidence.
In his view, the Obama administration misused government agencies for political gain.
“After what they did to me, it’s time to chase after people, whether it’s right or wrong. Obama was caught directly,” Trump stated during a recent Oval Office address.
Last week, National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard released a report alleging that Obama and his national security team possessed “overwhelming evidence” following Trump’s election victory in 2016, intending to undermine the American public’s will through claims of collusion with Russia.
Gabbard indicated that the Obama administration was effectively rejecting the outcomes of the 2016 election, promoting “manufactured, politicized intelligence” to justify what she described as a long-term coup against Trump.
“These over 100 documents I’ve declassified and released show exactly what happens when the most powerful people orchestrate manipulation,” Gabbard noted.
“It’s the highest level of criminal activity,” Trump commented, referring to the documents released by Gabbard. “It all leads back to President Obama. [Joe] Biden was involved too, as well as [James] Comey and [James] Clapper. That entire group, including [John] Brennan, was part of this.”
“This was treason. All the words apply here. They tried to steal the election and obscure its true outcome,” he added.
