Clint Eastwood at 95: A Look at His Longevity

Clint Eastwood, at the remarkable age of 95, continues to show resilience as both an actor and director. Biographer Shawn Levy, who wrote “Clint: The Man and The Movies,” recently shared insights into the health habits that have helped Eastwood maintain such longevity.

In a recent article, Levy described Eastwood as a “lifelong fitness enthusiast,” emphasizing his dedication to an “organic, low-fat diet” that began back in the 1950s, when items like alfalfa sprouts and yogurt were considered quite unusual. Interestingly, Levy also noted that Eastwood was an early advocate for sushi back in the ’60s.

Another key aspect of Eastwood’s daily routine is Transcendental Meditation (TM), which he has practiced regularly—often twice a day—since the mid-’70s, including while working on set.

Levy labeled Eastwood a “man of contradiction.” He juxtaposes Eastwood’s tough, often gritty on-screen personas with his calming behind-the-scenes meditation practices, portraying him as reflective of both the highs and lows of American character.

Understanding Transcendental Meditation

According to the official TM website, this technique provides profound rest for both the mind and body. It’s believed that meditative practices may enhance cognitive functioning by alleviating stress in the nervous system.

Practitioners report feeling refreshed and clear after just a few minutes of TM. Over time, many experience greater happiness and success. They also mention improved creativity, health, and relationships.

Of course, while TM has its advocates, it’s essential to recognize that it’s not a standalone treatment for certain medical conditions. Noted benefits of practicing TM include reduced stress, anxiety, and better sleep, among others.

Training in TM is offered by the Maharishi Foundation, a non-profit that supports group courses with certified teachers. Fox News Digital contacted the Maharishi Foundation for further insights.
