Speaker Johnson criticizes Democrats regarding Biden's downturn during the Epstein dispute

House Speaker Accuses Democrats of Covering Up Biden’s Mental Health

Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House from Louisiana, accused Democrats this Wednesday of “concealing” signs of President Biden’s mental decline. In comments to reporters, he criticized the left for engaging in pressure campaigns concerning the Jeffrey Epstein case, labeling their push for transparency as hypocritical.

Johnson stated, “We won’t take lectures on transparency from a party that has orchestrated one of the most shameless political cover-ups in American history. The clear decline in President Biden’s mental state is evident.” He continued, asserting that House Republicans have always championed transparency and truth.

The House Oversight Committee is currently investigating claims that top White House officials have hidden indications of Biden’s mental and physical decline from the public.

Biden recently claimed he is fully aware of his decision-making, especially regarding the use of an autopen for signing orders, according to a report.

In the meantime, Johnson and other GOP lawmakers have been under intense scrutiny regarding the Epstein situation, exacerbated by a recent memo from the Department of Justice declaring the issue effectively closed.

Some on the far-right criticized former Trump administration officials for what they perceive as a retreat from their promises of transparency. There’s an ongoing effort by Trump’s DOJ to seal grand jury files related to Epstein, with investigations ongoing about whether his former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, will cooperate with federal authorities.

Democrats have leveraged discrepancies around the Epstein case by calling votes on whether to release related files, putting Republicans in a tough spot in the House Rules Committee.

This political climate has forced House Republicans into a partial pause, sending leaders home for an earlier-than-planned August break.

Amid all this, there are divisions within the GOP. While some express frustration over how Trump-era issues are being navigated, others are upset with fellow Republicans for collaborating with Democrats to demand transparency. Johnson asserted that Democrats are acting with double standards, saying, “Their attempt to weaponize this issue is nothing short of shameless. They didn’t care before but now want the public to think they actually do.”

When queried about Biden’s mental state, Johnson noted, “I never had concerns about it before,” suggesting a shift in perspective.

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries pointed out that Jeffrey Epstein’s death occurred during Trump’s presidency, criticizing Republicans for not revealing pertinent files sooner.

“Officials from the Trump administration had indicated plans to release Epstein-related documents, which raises questions about why they’re now implicated in this issue involving President Biden,” Jeffries remarked.

Fox News reached out to Biden’s office for comments but did not receive a response immediately.
