Ozzy Osbourne’s Legacy: A Unique Tribute
Is it possible to bring back Ozzy Osbourne? If you’re curious, you might want to check out a new product while it’s still available.
The iconic “Prince of Darkness,” who passed away recently at the age of 76, had teamed up with Liquid Death last month to release a special iced tea in a striking can.
Here’s the intriguing twist: these cans supposedly contain traces of Osbourne’s DNA.
Liquid Death’s advertising claims that after drinking the iced tea, “I crushed 10 cans,” and each can leaves behind “traces of DNA from his saliva.”
The company suggested, “If technology and federal law allow, we could replicate Ozzy Osbourne and enjoy him for hundreds of years.”
Of course, they cautioned that “DNA integrity and cloning results are not guaranteed.”
Cans, signed by Osbourne himself, initially sold out quickly at $450. However, following his recent death, prices spiked to around $4,655 on resale platforms like eBay.
As Liquid Death put it, “Ozzy Osbourne is one of a kind. But we sell his real DNA, so we can recycle him forever,” referring to their campaign called “Infinitely Recyclable Ozzy.”
You can also find regular Liquid Death iced teas priced at about $2 at places like Walmart and Stop & Shop.
Earlier this month, Osbourne launched a limited edition makeup collection with UK-based Jolly Beauty, which included items like a brush, a vinyl record-style mirror, and eyeshadow with names such as “Bloodbath” and “Nightmare.”
This wasn’t Osbourne’s first unconventional collaboration. In 2003, Chipotle presented him with a lifetime celebrity card for unlimited meals at their restaurants. As of 2022, he was their only lifelong cardholder.
He passed away “surrounded by love,” as his family stated shortly after his death. A heartfelt message from his wife, Sharon, and some of their children expressed, “It’s more sadness than mere words that we can tell you that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
His death comes over five years after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and just weeks after performing alongside Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England.
Osbourne was notorious for his wild antics, famously biting the head off a dove during a record company meeting in 1981, and reportedly engaging in other bizarre behaviors during his 1980s tours, including some infamous moments highlighted in the documentary “The Dirt.”
His unique lifestyle and unpredictable behavior earned him a legendary status as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, a successful solo artist, and even a reality TV star on “The Osbournes,” which aired from 2002 to 2005.
