Tomorrowland Festival Features Unexpected Gym
Who said to skip leg day at a festival?
Tomorrowland, the well-known electronic dance festival, has introduced something unexpected—a full gym right on the grounds in Belgium. This might not be what you typically anticipate at such an event, yet various clips show festival-goers enjoying a designated “chill-out area” filled with free weights and a variety of workout machines.
“Yes, there’s a gym at Tomorrowland,” one video on Instagram declared, featuring attendees, some shirtless, and others in activewear lifting weights. The caption continued, “From early morning workouts to pre-party pump sessions, the Tomorrowland Fitness Zone proves that festival life can be balanced.”
The space is described as “where lovers become fitness enthusiasts before the party even begins.”
Understandably, many people rushed to the comments, surprised by this unusual setup. One user quipped, “Grab a beer and hang out! You only have three days to enjoy!” While another joked, “Would you really pay for a ticket just to go to the gym? Just drink a cold beer and enjoy the music. You won’t lose muscle in three days!” A different comment read, “How was the festival? Glad I was in the gym…”
A clip showed the gym buzzing with activity during strength classes, eliciting reactions with a simple “WTF,” while others seemed impressed by the energy of fellow attendees, echoing sentiments like, “Strength training first, then dance floor aerobic exercises!”
According to the Tomorrowland website, this area aims to “recharge your body with sports, relax, and enjoy healthier foods and drinks in calm environments.” They also offer yoga classes and boxing training.
“You can work out solo or join any number of group classes. There’s even a boxing ring!” they noted, adding that the recovery area is free, with instructors ready to help newcomers navigate the fitness scene.
This year’s Tomorrowland festival started on shaky ground after a fire broke out at the main stage just a few days after it opened last week. Footage revealed the “Orbyz Mainstage” engulfed in flames.
Organizers stated it was a “race against time” to construct alternative stages, ensuring that artists like Meduza and Axwell could still perform. They succeeded.
Images posted on the official Instagram account on July 19 showcased a new main stage, which, while different from the usual elaborate designs, was quickly embraced by fans, some even preferring it. One comment read, “Honestly, this looks much better. People are closer to the DJs now. It’s more about dancing than just recording.”
Local news reported that parts of Metallica’s current M72 World Tour were airlifted from Austria to ensure everything was in place for the main stage’s operation.
Martin Garrix, a headlining act this year, took to Instagram to express gratitude to Metallica shortly before performing, stating, “I can’t believe I’m actually writing this…but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening.” He thanked Metallica for their quick response, showing appreciation for the Tomorrowland team who were busy constructing new stage elements.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, local firefighter François Vanden Ende speculated that it “spread very quickly.” This weekend marks the final day of Tomorrowland 2025.
