Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum, was on a work trip in Japan when his wife, Christine Cabot, was spotted canoeing at a Coldplay concert. The couple’s family appears to have been unaware of the ensuing scandal, according to a source familiar with the matter.
According to a tipster, Cabot, who founded a high-end liquor company in Massachusetts, has returned home to a social media uproar after being away for a few weeks.
“He was in Asia for a few weeks and just got back on Saturday, right during all the drama,” the source shared.
Efforts to reach Andrew Cabot and Privateer Rum were unsuccessful, and the voicemail box for the company was reported as full when contacted.
Andrew and Christine Cabot married in 2022, following her divorce. Sources indicate that prior to the viral video from the concert, there hadn’t been many signs of trouble in their marriage.
“The family says they’ve had marriage issues for several months and are discussing separation. It’s ironic because just a month ago, they were expressing their love for each other,” the source remarked.
Reports first indicated that Christine’s maiden name was Stanek before she married Andrew Cabot. The couple had purchased a $2.2 million home in Rye, New Hampshire, just five months prior to the scandal breaking.
In a Facebook post from May 2024, Andrew was pictured wearing a wedding ring with their two young children, appearing cheerful.
Andrew Cabot belongs to one of Boston’s oldest and wealthiest families, known as the “Boston Brahmin,” a group that has influenced New England for centuries.
A private biography states that his ancestor, also named Andrew Cabot, was a successful merchant during the American Revolution.
The rum brand sells for over $100 and highlights authentic ingredients and a commitment to being “Made in the USA.”
“One thing is certain,” stated a source. “Privateer supports transparency, integrity, and purity.”
Christine Cabot’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile showed that she had been an advisory board member for Privateer Rum since September 2020.
Andy Byron, who is the current CEO of New York-based software company Astronomer, was also caught canoeing during the same Coldplay event. He was with Christine Cabot, who leads HR at the company.
Both appeared startled as Coldplay’s frontman, Chris Martin, joked, “They’re either cheating or are very shy.”
Following the incident, Astronomer placed both Christine and Byron on leave while they investigated the matter. By the next Saturday, Byron had resigned, and the company’s co-founder, Pete DeJoy, assumed the role of interim CEO.
As of now, Christine Cabot has not faced any termination from her position.
