Political community shares sympathies for Hulk Hogan’s passing

Political world expresses condolences over Hulk Hogan death

The political landscape is mourning the loss of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who died Thursday in Florida at 71. President Trump, lawmakers, and various figures in politics have shared their condolences.

Trump took to Truth Social to express his feelings, describing Hogan as a remarkable friend and a person with immense strength and an even bigger heart. He recalled Hogan’s memorable speech at last year’s Republican National Convention, calling it one of the event’s highlights. Trump also sent his deepest sympathies to Hogan’s family.

Vice President Vance referred to Hogan as a “Great American Icon” in a post on Social Platform X. He reminisced about admiring Hogan during his childhood and shared a personal memory, saying they had promised to share a beer the next time they met.

Hogan’s legacy is filled with vivid memories. From his childhood appearances in the ’80s to campaigning alongside Trump, many viewed him as a larger-than-life figure. He captivated audiences at the GOP convention in Milwaukee last summer, famously tearing his shirts and creating excitement around “Trumpamania.”

In earlier comments, Hogan hinted that Trump might offer him a role in his administration, mentioning a conversation about running a presidential council on physical fitness. Despite this prospect, Hogan didn’t end up joining the team.

The WWE hailed Hogan as one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, noting how he played a significant role in popularizing wrestling in the ’80s and ’90s. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk described Hogan as a unique figure in American culture — flawed yet authentic, who had the guts to stand up for his beliefs.

Donald Trump Jr. echoed this sentiment, labeling Hogan a “real American icon” and reflecting on Hogan’s impactful speech at the convention.
