Wrestling friendships can be profound.

After the recent news of Hulk Hogan’s cardiac arrest and subsequent passing, Ric Flair opened up in a conversation with TMZ, revealing just how much the loss affected him. He shared the emotional weight of losing a fellow WWE star.

“People often painted us as rivals, but the truth is, we were close friends,” Flair expressed in his comments shortly after Hogan’s death.

Throughout their careers, Flair and Hogan crossed paths frequently, both in the WWF and WCW, embodying the essence of wrestling’s golden era.

While Flair’s legendary partner was Ricky Steamboat, he and Hogan had moments where they teamed up, despite usually being at odds.

Flair reflected on their relationship, saying, “We had magic together. It was different—almost like with Steamboat—but in its own incredible way.”

Flair reminisced about various memories he cherished, including a time when Hogan lent him money, which left a lasting impression. He recounted how Hogan was among the first to visit him in the hospital years ago following a serious medical scare.

“How do you forget moments like that?” he questioned.

Charlotte Flair, Flair’s daughter, also chimed in on social media, sharing, “When I lost my father eight years ago, Hulk was one of the very few who stood by me.” This highlights the deep connections that were forged over their time together.

Flair expressed his shock and sorrow, stating, “I can’t believe my best friend has gone. The Hulk has been with me since I started wrestling. Our friendship has always meant everything to me.” He added that Hogan was always there for him, even when he didn’t seek help. Flair recalled how Hogan visited him in the hospital, where his condition was dire, and prayed at his bedside.

Hogan passed away at the age of 71, leaving a significant void in the wrestling world.
