We plan to sell a lot.

We plan to sell a lot.

They really went for it with the beef.

On Thursday, President Trump hailed Australia’s choice to allow imports of US beef, asserting that this shift in policy would greatly benefit American cattle ranchers.

“Years later, Australia has finally decided to accept American beef!” he enthusiastically commented about the situation.

“For too long, despite our solid friendship, they actually banned our beef,” Trump elaborated. “Now, we’re going to sell a lot to Australia because this is undeniable proof that our beef is the safest and best in the world.”

“Other nations are rejecting our fantastic beef, notifying us of their decisions,” he added.

Australia has lifted its ban on importing both fresh and frozen US beef after confirming to consumers it’s safe from biosecurity risks.

According to a spokesperson, “Our representatives are heading to the US to track the entire supply chain, including meat processing facilities, ensuring the safety and security of the beef destined for Australia.”

When questioned about whether the easing of restrictions was influenced by Trump’s tariff threat, the spokesperson insisted that the decision was based purely on thorough scientific assessments.

The president had announced a 10% tariff on Australian goods earlier this year, expressing frustration over Australia’s beef import limitations.

“Last year alone, we imported $3 billion worth of Australian beef. Meanwhile, they haven’t had any of ours,” Trump noted in an earlier statement. “They hesitate to accept it because they don’t want to upset their farmers. I get that, but we’re in the same boat now.”

Since 2003, Australia had restricted imports of fresh American beef products due to concerns over mad cow disease, though they have allowed imports of US-raised cattle since 2019.

Trump concluded, “Our country’s ranchers are some of the hardest working people out there, and I’m feeling good about this. It’s America’s golden age, let’s keep this momentum going!”

Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins criticized the previous restrictions as “unscientific trade barriers.” He stated, “American farmers are no longer sidelined. This is yet another instance showing how the president is actively engaging markets, steering America toward prosperity.”

US trade representative Jamieson Greer echoed similar sentiments, asserting, “For decades, Australia has imposed unfair barriers to US beef, practically shutting our farmers out.”

“Australia’s decision marks a significant step toward reducing trade barriers and improving market access for US farmers and ranchers,” Greer remarked. “The unlocking of US beef access is a direct outcome of the president’s leadership.”
