Trump supports former Rep. Mike Rogers for the Senate

Former President Donald Trump has given his backing to ex-Rep. Mike Rogers as Republicans aim to secure another Senate seat in Michigan.

Rogers, who lost the 2024 Senate race in Michigan to Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin, is attempting another run this year.

Trump referred to Rogers as “America’s first patriot” and expressed his support on Truth Social, stating, “Mike Rogers has my full and total support. He won’t disappoint you!”

The GOP is making another effort to flip Senate seats held by Democrats in key battlegrounds.

Interestingly, Trump had previously endorsed Rogers in 2024 before he won the Republican primary. However, Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky was openly critical of Trump’s support for Rogers back then.

In his own words, Paul labeled Rogers as “the worst deep state candidate in this cycle” on social media, questioning Trump’s judgment by saying, “Who will be next, John Bolton?”

Despite past comments, it seems Trump is willing to rally behind GOP senators again, even after claiming he would never support certain individuals.

Rogers represented the U.S. House from 2001 until 2015, serving seven terms in total.
