Las Vegas Buffets: Tips for Navigating Long Lines

During the summer, many visitors flock to Las Vegas, eager to experience its renowned buffets. The Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace and the buffet at Wynn are just a couple of the popular spots attracting large crowds eager for a taste of Sin City.

Local TikTok user Dave O. Shepherdson recently shared a video highlighting the lengthy lines outside the MGM Grand Buffet. He noted, “The lines are overwhelming,” acknowledging that while the wait can be tedious, there are strategies to manage the situation.

Las Vegas spokesperson Jackie Dadas Creper pointed out that these buffets are essentially a part of the city’s charm, though they do come with lengthy wait times. She mentioned the popularity of places like Caesars’ Bacchanal, Wynn’s buffet, and Cosmopolitan’s Wicked Spoon. “They’re big attractions for visitors,” she stated.

Her primary recommendation for tourists is simple: plan ahead. Dadas Creper suggests that some buffets now offer online reservations, which can significantly ease the experience, allowing guests to avoid long lines. “We always arrive early; if the dinner rush starts at 6 PM, we try to get there by 4:30 or 5,” she advises.

Additionally, visiting during a weekday lunch might be a good idea, as Dadas Creper pointed out that it tends to be less crowded and often more affordable. “They still offer a great variety,” she said.

She also mentioned the benefits of hotel loyalty programs like Caesars Rewards or MGM Rewards, which can lead to shorter lines and some exclusive discounts. “The Las Vegas concierge team knows many insider secrets about timing and can help with reservations,” she added.

Matthew Chacho, the executive chef at Bacchanal Buffet, echoed the importance of planning. He explained that wait times can fluctuate throughout the week or during holidays, and he recommends booking in advance to minimize those delays. His buffet boasts over 250 fresh dishes, ranging from seafood to international cuisine, enticing diners further.

For those already at the buffet, Chacho has some practical tips. “First, explore the buffet to see all the options and prioritize what you want,” he suggests. To ensure you’re enjoying dishes at their best, he recommends focusing on one station at a time before going back for repeats of your favorites.

So, heading to a buffet in Las Vegas? Prepare, have a plan, and maybe even treat it like a big event—because it can be quite the experience!
