Democrat AG Accumulates Huge Expense on Taxpayer-Paid Credit Card

Massachusetts AG’s Extensive Travel Expenses Revealed

Attorney General Andrea Campbell of Massachusetts has reportedly charged nearly $300,000 to taxpayer-funded credit cards over previous fiscal years, according to a report by the Boston Herald. Between July 2024 and June 2025, her office racked up $288,146.26 on state-issued procurement cards for various expenses, which included international travel and office celebrations.

Records indicate her office’s transactions took place in 31 states and several foreign countries, even extending to Disney World. One of the priciest trips took place last July when Campbell traveled to France for a meeting. She indicated the focus was to honor those who served during the D-Day invasion, coinciding with its 80th anniversary. The trip alone cost around $13,627, and over $2,000 was spent on a luxury chauffeur service in Boston, with the vehicle rental tallying about $9,000.

This meeting was co-hosted by the Attorney General’s Alliance, which generally receives funding from various businesses. Critics argue that such events offer lobbyists a chance to mingle with attorneys general, and more than half of the U.S. state attorneys general were reportedly in attendance.

Other expenses highlighted include $1,220 for an annual holiday party at her office and $1,287 recognized by Massachusetts State Police for a significant drug trafficking investigation last October. Additionally, there was a $10,286 charge for overflow space at a hotel during an annual cybercrime conference and a $548 hotel stay in Canada.

The Daily Call News Foundation did not receive a response from Campbell’s office regarding these expenditures. Meanwhile, Campbell has faced scrutiny lately, especially following the approval of a new law last November that allows for more enforced audits of state legislation—something 72% of voters had supported.

Paul Diego Carney from the Massachusetts Fiscal Union commented on the situation, stating, “Taxpayers are footing the bill for these lavish trips. She seems to benefit from not conducting congressional audits, giving her a larger budget for travel.” It’s worth noting that Congress approved a 12% increase to Campbell’s office budget for this fiscal year aimed at bolstering legal agendas related to the Trump administration. Over the initial 100 days of Trump’s presidency, Campbell’s office filed numerous lawsuits against the administration.

In July, Campbell joined other Democratic state AGs in a lawsuit against the Trump administration for sharing Medicaid information with federal immigration officials, seeking the return of funds that had been previously revoked by the administration due to supposed misuse aimed at teaching English to undocumented immigrants.
