Police officer loses job after bodycam reveals relationship with married teacher.

What an unusual situation!

A police officer from Tennessee lost his job after a body camera revealed him acting inappropriately while teaching a drug prevention program at a local school.

Brian Gilley, the former officer, was caught flirting with teacher Shelby Moss in a classroom at Castle Heights Elementary School, according to reports. The pair later admitted to having sexual encounters on school property.

Gilley acknowledged his wrong actions, seeking leniency during a hearing in April, yet he was ultimately banned from serving in any law enforcement role in May.

“You were supposed to protect the students, not engage in that kind of behavior,” stated William “Chip” Kane, executive director of Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training, following a committee vote for his removal.

Meanwhile, the married teacher was suspended and resigned shortly after. The Tennessee Board of Education is now looking into whether she should lose her teaching license.

It’s unclear why Gilley’s body cam was recording at the time. In the video, he can be heard joking with the teacher about not being affectionate enough.

At one point, students walked in, disrupting the moment. However, once they left, Moss approached Gilley, hugging him and sharing a kiss.

Gilley, appearing flustered, said, “See you tomorrow,” as he exited through a side door.

While they later acknowledged their sexual activities, the body cam had not captured all of those incidents.

Text messages exchanged between the two, revealed by reports, included chats about holiday costumes and expressions of affection.

Setups by school and police personnel began in December 2024.

Initially, Gilley denied the allegations during an internal investigation but eventually admitted to the actions and resigned.

After confirming Gilley’s marital status, Moss faced a brief suspension before officially resigning in May. The school district has reported the matter to the Tennessee State Board of Education regarding her potential license revocation.
