The Rise of Political Violence During Trump Isn’t Really ‘Far-Right’ After All

The increase in violent extremism linked to the U.S. left and Palestinian activism presents a narrative that legacy media suggests could incite right-wing extremists, particularly in light of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Law enforcement is grappling with extensive riots arising from incidents of suspected arson, shootings, threats against government officials, and public outcry over Trump’s policies and U.S. support for Israel. Since Trump’s re-election, various media outlets and experts have pointed out a potential resurgence of right-wing or white supremacist violence during his administration, raising concerns about the impact of such extremism.

Some argue that the analysis by left-leaning scholars has often hinged on government preferences, suggesting that “extremism” is predominantly a matter associated with political rights, despite various violent acts historically linked with jihadist groups or communist factions. A report from the Southern Poverty Law Center has shown a decline in extremist groups, illustrating how their perspectives have seemingly permeated mainstream discourse.

Interestingly, there are instances of individuals involved in violent plots tied to white supremacy or conservatism in 2025. For example, there were Wisconsin teenagers linked to neo-Nazi and Satanist groups who allegedly planned to assassinate Trump, claiming it was to protect the “white race” from the “Jewish occupied government.”

Moreover, a recent survey indicated that a notable portion of self-identified left-leaning Americans believe that harming Trump is somewhat justified. A significant number also found protesting and vandalizing luxury car dealerships as, at the very least, “somewhat acceptable.”

“This isn’t a fringe perspective; it reflects an alarming culture concerning assassination that’s becoming increasingly accepted in online discussions,” the study noted.

January

Right at the start of the inauguration, surveillance footage showed someone launching Molotov cocktails at Tesla facilities and vehicles in Oregon. The DOJ later charged an individual described as a former member of the Social Gun Club.

On January 27, a man armed with a Molotov cocktail approached authorities near the Capitol, claiming he intended to “kill” Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent, appointed by Trump.

Just two days later, the same transgender suspect was reportedly involved in an attack at a Tesla Cyber Truck event in Colorado.

February

A “strange” man in Albuquerque, New Mexico, accused of writing graffiti like “Tesla Naji,” was connected to the facilities on February 9. In the same month, two transgender individuals involved in anti-Tesla crimes targeted the same facilities again, leading to their arrests.

March

On March 30, a suspected vandal bombed the Republican headquarters in Albuquerque and left behind messages equating ice to the KKK. That month also saw multiple reports of shootings and arson targeting Tesla properties.

April

Arson occurred at the home of Pennsylvania’s governor, Josh Shapiro, with no injuries reported. The perpetrator was allegedly associated with leftist memorabilia.

May

On May 17, a homemade bomb attack at a fertility clinic in California resulted in casualties, with the suspect apparently motivated by anti-life beliefs. Following this, an attack targeting Israeli embassy workers took place, with the suspect stating he did it “for Gaza.”

June

On June 1, six people were hospitalized during an Israeli demonstration, with one victim later succumbing to her injuries. The attacker had recorded a declaration of “jihad” prior to the incident. Additionally, protests in California turned violent, with law enforcement facing significant challenges.

July

A group attacked a Texas immigration facility on July 4th, injuring a local officer. Authorities labeled it a planned ambush, leading to multiple indictments of involved individuals linked to leftist ideologies.

The turmoil surrounding immigration issues persisted, particularly in California, where activists encouraged protests against perceived injustices. Reports indicated that assaults on ICE personnel had surged dramatically compared to the previous year, highlighting the escalating tensions across the nation.
