Titans release Treylon Burks following a troubling trade

Over three years since the trade, the repercussions for the Titans regarding AJ Brown are still unfolding.

On Monday, the Titans announced that wide receiver Treylon Burks will not be returning. It’s official.

Burks has been exempt from injury status after a collarbone injury during Saturday’s practice. If he clears this hurdle, he will head back to injured reserve in Tennessee.

The Titans had drafted Burks, hoping this 6-foot-2, 225-pound receiver from Arkansas could eventually step into Brown’s shoes.

However, Burks hasn’t made the impact they anticipated.

In his rookie season, he managed 444 yards and one touchdown, but in 2023, only reached 221 yards, spending most of 2024 sidelined due to an ACL injury.

To fill Burks’ spot, the Titans have signed former University of Tennessee wide receiver La Melkieton.

During the night of the 2022 draft, Tennessee traded Brown to the Eagles in exchange for the 101st overall pick while also dealing the No. 18 pick to acquire Burks.

Since joining Philadelphia, Brown has earned Pro Bowl selections in both 2022 and 2023, and he contributed to the Eagles’ Super Bowl win in 2025.

In his three seasons there, he has racked up 4,031 receiving yards, accompanied by 25 touchdowns.

Titans fans expressed their frustration on social media over Burks’ departure.

One fan remarked, “AJ Brown for Burks. John Robinson should be banned from football.” Wrote someone on X.

Another commented, “John Robinson pays for what he did to this franchise.” Said another user.

One more added, “Good Riddance.” They remarked on Burks. “It’s one of the cheapest first-round picks this franchise has made over the years.”
