NFL worker Craig Clementi alerted coworkers before being shot by Shane Tamura in NYC shooting

Mass Shooting Near NFL Headquarters in Manhattan

Employees at the NFL’s Manhattan office were urged to evacuate the building amid a shooting incident that left four people dead. Reports indicate that some staff were even injured during the chaotic event.

One employee from the finance department, Craig Klenty, was apparently making calls to warn others to stay away as bullets flew around him.

“I have faith,” he reportedly said, expressing relief after a bullet ricocheted off him before striking another individual who had just welcomed a newborn.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell communicated with staff through a letter, confirming that some were seriously injured, though he didn’t disclose their names. He mentioned that one man is currently hospitalized but in stable condition, assuring that the organization is supporting the affected employee’s family.

Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old from Las Vegas, reportedly stormed into the building at 345 Park Avenue, which houses both the NFL and financial firm Blackstone, and opened fire, killing four, including a married police officer aged 36.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish stated that Tamura shot the officer, named Didalur, and then targeted others in the lobby.

Despite some injuries, it remains unconfirmed if Clementi, mentioned earlier, was the one shot in the lobby.

As the situation escalated, Tamura eventually ascended to the 33rd floor, where he took his own life after shooting himself.

Details on NYC’s Mass Shooting

Reports reveal that Tamura had a note in his pocket expressing grievances against the NFL and mentioning a diagnosis of CTE.

Although he played high school football in California, it seems he did not progress beyond that level.

As per sources, the note contained claims like, “Terry Long, soccer gave me a CTE, so it gave me a gallon of antifreeze.” He also warned against opposing the NFL, suggesting they would “crush” anyone who challenges them.

Mayor Eric Adams commented on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” suggesting that Tamura may have intentionally targeted the NFL offices.

Tish noted that police are actively investigating the motives behind the attack. Adams emphasized that they have reason to believe that the NFL agency was specifically targeted and mentioned that additional weapons were found in the car parked nearby.
