Pierre Gasly expects a challenging F1 Hungarian Grand Prix

Alpine Builds Momentum Ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

Alpine is gaining some momentum as they head toward the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, even though they sit in 10th place in the constructors’ championship standings. They’ve managed to score points in their last two races, which feels promising.

However, the drivers who brought in these points are gearing up for what they describe as a “relentless” race in Hungary.

After finishing sixth in the UK’s Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly shared his thoughts on the team’s recent performance, highlighting their ability to earn points and expressing optimism about competing in Budapest. He mentioned feeling “happy” to leave the Belgian Grand Prix with a strong showing.

In a media preview, Gasly reflected: “The race is quite intense, especially the first lap. We made some solid decisions as a team, which allowed us to gain points. With two consecutive top 10 finishes, we enter Hungary feeling confident, which is great as we approach the summer break.”

Despite the challenging layout of the circuit, Gasly considers it one of the “most enjoyable tracks” on the Formula 1 calendar. He likened it to a go-kart track due to its fast corners and short straights, which makes each lap quite busy. “We’re aiming for another solid performance this weekend, hoping to secure more points before the summer break,” he added.

Meanwhile, Franco Colapinto is still in search of his first points this season but remains hopeful that a breakthrough is near. He discussed facing difficulties at Spa-Francorchamps, attributing setbacks to small details. “It’s crucial to hit the ground running during the Sprint weekend. We didn’t have great grip in the first practice session, but Pierre managed to finish 10th and grab at least one point,” he said.

Colapinto’s previous successes at this circuit also provide him with confidence. He achieved podium finishes in both the 2022 and 2023 F3 seasons and believes this history gives him a boost. “I’m excited to get back on track, especially since this is the last race before the summer break. We’re hoping to secure positive results for the team before everyone takes their vacations,” he shared.

As it stands, Alpine remains 10th in the F1 Constructors Championship with 20 points, all earned by Gasly, putting them 15 points behind the 9th place Haas team. Still, as last season demonstrated, a single strong race weekend can drastically shift standings.
