Sister of Kaylee Goncalves claims she was ready to be arrested following passionate remarks during Kohberger’s sentencing

Goncalves Sister Confronts Murderer in Court

Alivea Goncalves, sister of Kaylee Goncalves—a victim in the University of Idaho murder case—faced Brian Coberger in court, holding his gaze throughout her testimony. She described her intense emotions during this moment, stating she felt ready to be arrested for her outburst.

In an interview with a news outlet, Goncalves expressed her anger after confronting the man who took her sister’s life. She said, “You are a delusional, pathetic, hypochondritic loser who thought you were smarter than everyone else.” She continued, calling him “stupid, clumsy, slow, and dirty,” emphasizing that he was simply an unhappy individual who hated himself.

Goncalves felt empowered by the rage she saw on Coberger’s face. She noted, “Man… he was mad. That was obviously a big point in why I did what I did—making him feel small. I had a shot at this and wanted to make the most of it.”

However, she later admitted to modifying her statement once she saw Coberger’s family in the courtroom. “I didn’t expect his mother or sister to be there,” she shared. “I had a concrete line aimed at his relationship with his mother and the shame he brought to his family. It felt cowardly for him to hide while they faced the real consequences of his actions.”

On July 23, Coberger was sentenced to life in prison without the chance for parole for the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Zana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. These four lives were lost nearly three years ago, and he is now facing the consequences of his actions.
