National Farmers Market Week Celebration Announced

Secretary of Agriculture Brook Rollins has announced the “National Farmers Market Week Celebration,” set to take place at the National Mall. This event is part of the broader American Agriculture Week, leading up to the United States’ 250th birthday.

“National Farmers Market Week starts on Sunday, August 3rd. We want to celebrate our amazing farmers—those people who nourish and fuel not just our country, but also the world. So, we’re inviting everyone to join us here in Washington, DC,” she stated.

“We’ve set up over 50 tents showcasing products from some of the best farmers across the country, and we’d love for people to come and connect with us,” she continued.

Each day of the week will feature a specific theme. For example, Monday is dubbed “Maha Monday.” “It’s possible that Secretary Kennedy will join us, and we might cook up some fresh produce,” Rollins mentioned. Tuesday’s theme is “Faith Tuesday,” which will include performances by top Christian songwriters and singers alongside local pastors. She also noted that Smoky Bear might make an appearance.

As for Wednesday, the theme is “Forest and Firefighters.” The following day will focus on celebrating “America’s Beautiful,” while Friday will conclude with “Farmer’s First Friday.” You can find more about the daily activities here.

Friday’s finale will feature a Family Night at the Farmers Market, showcasing a screening of “Charlotte’s Web” on the Mall. She emphasized, “No tickets are necessary, so bring your friends and family!”

This week-long event is part of a series of celebrations initiated during the Trump administration, marking America’s upcoming 250th birthday.

Additionally, the USDA is undergoing significant changes. Rollins recently announced a complete restructuring meant to bring employees closer to the farmers they serve. The new hubs will be located in areas like Raleigh, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; Indiana, Indiana; Fort Collins, Colorado; and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Rollins remarked, “We are starting a new chapter aimed at enhancing our services to our dedicated farmers, ranchers, and producers.”
