President Trump mentioned on Tuesday that convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein began targeting young women who worked at his Mar-a-Lago Spa, a situation he described as alarming.
While speaking to a reporter on Air Force One during his return from Scotland, Trump recounted his past interactions with Epstein. He highlighted Virginia Giuffre, an outspoken accuser of Epstein who tragically took her own life in April, noting that she had previously worked at the Mar-a-Lago Spa before Epstein recruited her.
“I think she was at the spa. I believe so. He took her from us, and she didn’t have complaints about our place,” Trump said, elaborating further.
“The women employed at the spa, I mean, I have a fantastic spa. Honestly, it’s one of the best in the world at Mar-a-Lago, and he was taking them from there. There were complaints, but I wasn’t aware until later,” Trump stated.
“So when I found out, I told him, ‘Listen, we’d rather you not take our people.’ Whether it’s at the spa or anywhere else, I really didn’t want that happening,” he added.
Trump’s remarks build on previous comments he made regarding why he distanced himself from Epstein.
“For years, I avoided talking to Jeffrey Epstein… because he acted inappropriately. He took people who worked for me. I told him, ‘Don’t do it again.’ But he did, and that’s why I ended our association,” Trump explained.
Virginia Giuffre had previously stated that Epstein recruited her while she was working at Mar-a-Lago.
