Trump Praises Media During Scotland Trip
As President Trump wrapped up his visit to Scotland, he took a moment to acknowledge members of the media who were in attendance.
Secretary Howard Lutnick highlighted that the trip was marked by several achievements, notably securing a significant trade agreement with the European Union. That’s a pretty big deal, right?
Additionally, Trump made headlines as he opened the Trump International Golf Link Aberdeen. Following an impressive swing on the course, he offered a rare compliment to the press.
“We try to straighten things for the world,” he stated while donning a white and gold “American” hat as he expressed gratitude to the journalists present.
“Thank you, guys—thanks to the media,” Trump began, making an effort to avoid his familiar catchphrase.
“Believe it or not, the media has been great,” he continued. “They’re not fake news today; they’re great news today. I appreciate the way they’ve treated us and how they respect our efforts.”
He seemed genuinely appreciative, noting that such respect is something he rarely sees these days.
However, not all interactions were positive. One reporter’s question, which appeared rude to some, prompted groans from fellow media members.
As Trump was leaving the golf course, a reporter called out, “What do you say next to Benjamin Netanyahu?” This question likely startled other reporters—given the then-existing rapport between Trump and the media—but surprisingly, he addressed it directly.
“We’re going to try to straighten things for the world,” Trump responded.
Camera flashes went off as someone in the crowd shouted, “Come on!” In response to the reporters’ queries, the White House team later remarked that “fake news can’t help itself.”
