DoorDash driver helps Blackstone worker during Shane Tamura's shooting in midtown

A Blackstone staff member was on her way to the lobby to collect food on Monday evening when she received an alarming message from DoorDash.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the employee was heading down when the delivery person alerted her to a shooter in the lobby. In a frantic moment, she and several colleagues rushed to her mother’s office as chaos erupted at 345 Park Avenue.

The shooter, identified as Shane Tamura, entered the Midtown office building, home to Blackstone, the NFL, and KPMG, and opened fire with an M4 assault rifle, killing four individuals.

DoorDash has been approached for comment regarding the incident.

Tamura, who has a documented history of mental health issues, inadvertently started his rampage in the lobby before advancing to the 33rd floor, according to an interview with New York City Mayor Adams.

Shane Tamura, a former high school football player from Granada Hills Charter in California, has been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Latest Updates on NYC’s Mass Shooting:

Wesley Lepatner, a Blackstone employee and the global head of Core+ Real Estate, was among those shot. Rudin Management, the building’s owner, lost several employees during this tragic event but has not publicly identified them.

In addition to Lepatner, 36-year-old police officer Didalle Islam and lobby guard Aland Etienne were also victims of this senseless act.

An NFL employee who had already left the office was also attacked and is currently in the hospital.

Following the incident, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed employees, especially those on the third floor, that they should either work from home or take time off.
