Tragedy Strikes Newlywed Family
The lives of a newlywed couple were tragically altered when a serious car accident claimed the lives of a husband and their one-year-old daughter shortly after returning from their honeymoon.
“Macy, Hunter, and Oakley were involved in a devastating accident on their way home from Hat Forge,” shared Macy’s mother, Leigh Ann Payne-Weisser, in a heartfelt Facebook post. She noted that Macy was admitted to the burn unit at the University of Louisville Hospital for her injuries.
“Hunter and Oakley are now with our Lord and Savior. Please keep Macy and our family in your thoughts and prayers,” she wrote.
A mother from Florida lost her life, while three young children sustained injuries after a truck collided with a van.
The accident occurred on July 26, as reported by Kentucky State Police. A Ford F-150 traveling south on Route 261 veered across the center line for reasons that are still unclear, colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado, which resulted in both vehicles bursting into flames.
Authorities confirmed that 22-year-old Hunter Lyons and one-year-old Oakley were pronounced dead at the scene, as indicated by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s office.
This unfortunate incident unfolded just a week after the couple’s wedding on July 19, according to their wedding website.
A tribute noted Hunter’s active involvement in the Constantine Missionary Baptist Church, where he often sang and played guitar. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, horseback riding, and working with tractors.
Additionally, Idaho State Police reported a separate incident involving a truck that crossed into the path of a tour van, leading to fatalities near Yellowstone National Park.
The couple’s young daughter was described as having a bright smile that matched her lively personality, a memory cherished by family and friends.
In light of this tragedy, various fundraising efforts have been initiated to support Macy through these difficult times.
The driver of the F-150, identified as 48-year-old Joseph Maynard from Owensboro, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
