Trump cautions Russia's Dmitry Medvedev about risky ground in efforts for peace during the Ukraine War

Former President Trump has cautioned Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s ex-president, about the “dangerous territory” he seems to be entering after Medvedev labeled a ceasefire deadline in Ukraine as a “step to war.”

Trump commented, “Medvedev, who claims to be the former president of Russia, still thinks he holds that title. He’s definitely in precarious waters!” This was regarding Medvedev’s remarks about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On Monday, Trump proposed a 50-day timeframe to conclude the conflict in Ukraine, suggesting that the invasion, which has lasted three years, should wrap up in about 10 to 12 days.

He set this deadline for Putin, suggesting that he either pursues a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia or faces economic repercussions.

In response, Medvedev, now the vice-chairman of the Russian Security Council, expressed that ongoing U.S. efforts to bring an end to the war could risk leading to another conflict between the superpowers.

Medvedev stated, “Trump is trying to play a high-stakes game with us: 50 days or 10… but he should keep in mind two things: Russia isn’t Israel or Iran. Every new ultimatum he presents could escalate tensions and threaten war.” He shared this view via a post on X.

The 78-year-old Trump also reacted to Medvedev’s statements by addressing issues with India, particularly after imposing a 25% tariff, effective August 1.

“Honestly, I couldn’t care less about India’s relations with Russia. Let them deal with their own economic troubles. We have minimal ties with India, and their tariffs are unreasonably high,” Trump remarked.

He further added, “Just like with Russia, the U.S. and India don’t have much business to discuss. Let it be.”

Trump expressed his disappointment regarding Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine. “To be frank, I’m let down by them,” he mentioned in a recent episode of “Pod Force One.”

He reflected on their previous discussions, saying, “We had a productive talk, but then a few unfortunate events occurred, leading to a situation that didn’t follow through as we had hoped.”
