Democrats declined to acknowledge the race of the NYC shooter

Tragedy Strikes NYC as Officer and Civilians Killed

A shooting at the New York City police headquarters left a married NYPD officer and three civilians dead on Monday evening. The assailant, identified as Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, entered the building armed with a rifle.

The incident was captured on video, which revealed Tamura’s race—initially a point of contention in the media. It was eventually confirmed that he is Black, but there seemed to be hesitance among some, particularly Democrats and mainstream outlets, to acknowledge this right away.

“If you happen to be one of the few still tuning into CNN, it’s getting dangerous out there. With this kind of tragic event unfolding, real-time information is crucial,” said Blazetv host Sarah Gonzalez.

During CNN’s coverage, their lead law enforcement analyst, John Miller, speculated that the shooter was “probably white,” a claim that surprised many.

Gonzalez, who elaborated on Miller’s credentials—he previously held high-ranking positions at LAPD and NYPD related to intelligence and terrorism—expressed disbelief at the assertions being made.

“Important for law enforcement to provide accurate descriptions of suspects,” she commented, emphasizing accuracy in communications during such critical situations.

Miller mentioned that the NYPD had distributed images of the suspect to officers to assist in identification, which, to be fair, makes sense given the urgency of the case.

As the segment continued, CNN anchor Erin Burnett referred to the shooter as “probably white,” further echoing Miller’s earlier statements.

Gonzalez found it startling to see a range of Democratic responses converging on the same narrative. “It’s striking how many reached that conclusion,” she noted, adding that the initial photo didn’t support their assumptions about the shooter’s race.

“Without visibility to his skin color, facial hair, or hair texture, perhaps he could be ‘probably white,’” she remarked, rolling her eyes at the contradictions.
