Biden gave a speech full of offensive remarks at the National Bar Association's gala

Joe Biden Highlights Diversity in Judicial Appointments

During a speech at the National Bar Association’s 100th Annual Gala at the Hyatt in Chicago, former President Joe Biden emphasized his commitment to diversity, notably mentioning Supreme Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson—the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. This statement came amid a backdrop of controversy, as Biden’s remarks included some slurs that drew attention.

Biden reflected on his past, recalling his time as vice president under Barack Obama, the first Black president, and the historic selection of Kamala Harris as the first woman of Black and South Asian descent to serve as vice president. In his speech, he mentioned his administration’s efforts to appoint judges who reflect the demographic diversity of the country.

Significant Judicial Appointments

“I made a promise to create a judicial bench that reflects America, and I believe I delivered on that,” Biden stated. “I appointed the most demographically diverse group of judges in U.S. history, including Ketanji Brown Jackson, one of the best lawyers I know.” He noted that she embodies the character and wisdom he recognized when making her appointment, and highlighted that his administration appointed 13 Black women to the federal court of appeals—more than any other president before him.

Furthermore, Biden mentioned that his appointments included judges from Hispanic, Asian, and Muslim backgrounds, indicating a broad commitment to representation.

Details from the Gala

The National Bar Association, originally founded in Iowa, comprises 66,000 members advocating for civil rights and diversity. Attendees at the gala included Judge Jackson herself, along with several prominent figures such as Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, and others.

Amidst this celebration of achievements, Biden and his supporters are grappling with criticisms regarding his mental fitness, which have been raised following a debate with Donald Trump on June 27, 2024, where Biden appeared to struggle with basic questions.

Concerns Over Mental Fitness

Concerns about Biden’s cognitive capabilities have grown, with reports detailing his challenges and speculations about his viability for reelection in light of recent performances. Research into his mental health is ongoing on Capitol Hill, particularly by the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating his cognitive decline and possible cover-ups linked to unauthorized actions during his presidency.

Earlier this Thursday, a long-time aide shared that if Biden wins reelection, he could potentially accumulate around $8 million. This information was first reported by Axios.

As of now, Fox News Digital has sought comments from Biden’s representatives but has yet to receive a response.
