Bears' Caleb Williams claims pressure doesn't affect him

Caleb Williams Starts His Second Season with the Bears

Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears, is heading into his second season, and interestingly, he claims to feel no pressure.

This 23-year-old quarterback guided the Bears to a decent start of 4-2, but then the team faced a tough stretch, losing ten straight games. As a result, the Bears decided to part ways with head coach Matt Eberflus, marking the first time they’ve fired a head coach during the season.

In his place, the team has brought in Ben Johnson. Johnson previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, known for having a dynamic offense. The Bears hope that he can help unlock Williams’ potential.

Williams has expressed a desire to be the first Bears quarterback to surpass 4,000 passing yards in a season while hitting a completion rate of 70%. That being said, he maintains that he doesn’t feel pressured to meet these objectives.

“Pressure isn’t really for me,” Williams stated during an interview. “It’s not about the outside noise. My focus is here, on the field.”

He acknowledges last season’s challenges but doesn’t dwell on them too much. “I didn’t win as many games as I wanted, but I didn’t end up with a poor touchdown-to-interception ratio either.” To him, pressure is more of a privilege, although he is aware of the expectations surrounding him.

Despite last year’s struggles, many fans are hopeful that Williams has the potential to become the franchise quarterback the Bears have long sought.

He played all 17 games last season, completing 62.5% of his passes for a total of 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. Even if he didn’t hit all of his goals last time around, he feels confident moving into this new season without succumbing to pressure.
