Israeli Ambassador Mike Hackabee and special envoy Steve Witkov visited the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) aid distribution site on Friday to explore ways to support Palestinians.
During their visit, Hackabee and Witkov noted the official delivery of 100 million meals to Gaza. They mentioned that President Donald Trump continues to endorse Israel’s strategy against Hamas, while also emphasizing the importance of ensuring that food aid reaches the Palestinian people.
In a recent context, after Hamas declined a trade deal last month, the president expressed a rather grim sentiment regarding the situation.
Huckabee appeared optimistic about the efforts at GHF, describing the work as “incredible.”
GHF spokesman Chapinfay shared his thoughts, highlighting President Trump’s awareness of the needs in Gaza. He stated that prioritizing the feeding of civilians over the interests of Hamas is crucial. He also remarked on the significance of this delegation, which seeks to reflect Trump’s commitment to helping those in need through the distribution of meals.
The White House has indicated a willingness to engage in conversations with Hamas, moving away from previous practices in favor of a comprehensive plan aimed at resolving the situation and releasing remaining Israeli hostages.
GHF’s effectiveness in delivering aid has reportedly put it in competition with Hamas, challenging their control over humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Nonetheless, the organization has faced criticisms from the United Nations regarding incidents of violence at aid distribution sites as well.
