Former NBA player Danilo Gallinari's wife Eleonora Boi, who is expecting, was bitten by a shark in Puerto Rico.

The wife of former NBA player Danilo Gallinari, Eleonora Boi, shared that she was attacked by a shark while in Puerto Rico on Friday.

She posted a photo on Instagram from her hospital bed, showing a playful expression with her tongue out, alongside details about the alarming incident.

Boi, who is pregnant with their third child, described the day as “the worst day of my life.”

She mentioned how unexpected it was to encounter a shark, especially on a busy beach near the coast. Fortunately, both she and her baby are okay. “I was taken to the hospital quickly, and the surgery to fix my injured leg went well. Now, I just need to recover from this terrifying experience,” she noted.

Adding a bit of humor, she remarked that the shark would be hearing from her lawyer and expressed gratitude towards her husband for his support during the ordeal.

Reports say she sustained a thigh injury.

Nilda Zimenez, a biologist from the Department of Natural Environment and Environmental Resources, stated that officials are looking into what type of shark was involved in the attack.

“From the photos we’ve been given, it seems the bite may correspond with characteristics typical of certain sharks,” Nilda explained. Verification will require further analysis, and medical professionals have been asked for a sample.

As for Gallinari, he hasn’t spoken publicly about the incident.

The Italian player had a lengthy NBA career from 2008 to 2024, playing for eight teams and averaging 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds across 777 games.
