Sen. Kennedy Discusses Economic Outlook on Fox News
During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports,” Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana shared his perspective on the current state of the economy. He noted that while tariff uncertainties are “holding our economy down a bit,” he hasn’t observed any significant negative impacts. Additionally, he offered praise for the Federal Reserve, crediting them for helping to maintain what he referred to as a “soft landing.” Although he acknowledged that the latest employment report wasn’t positive, he believes the economy is improving overall, attributing some of this progress to President Trump and Congress as well as the Fed.
Kennedy remarked, “The job numbers weren’t great. They really weren’t. The job market seems to be softening with businesses hiring less. On the upside, the unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%, and we did see some job growth last month. Two years ago, Congress passed a significant settlement bill, which I think played a key role in lowering interest rates and enabling this soft economic landing.”
He added, “Regarding tariffs, we’re still navigating uncertain waters. Many businesses are holding off on decisions until things clear up a bit. It’s likely that we’ll experience a slight economic pullback before companies feel comfortable investing.” He concluded on a cautiously optimistic note about the future.
