Charlamagne Tha God Questions Kamala Harris’s 2028 Presidential Bid
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God shared his thoughts on the potential candidacy of former Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2028 presidential election. During an interview with Lara Trump on Fox News, he expressed skepticism over the idea of Democrats distancing themselves from the previous administration.
“I’m not sure if I would run for president if I were her. But, she definitely needs to connect more genuinely with people. That’s really what has been missing,” he remarked. This conversation followed Harris’s announcement that she wouldn’t pursue the governor’s seat in California.
Charlamagne reflected on Harris’s trajectory since 2020, noting how her initial run for president seemed like a strategy for gaining recognition. “She went from being a candidate to vice president, but it’s interesting to see where she stands now,” he added.
When asked about her separating herself from the Biden administration during the 2024 campaign, he suggested that if Democrats really want to shift gears, they might need to “throw the old administration under the bus.” He indicated that anyone leading the party must be willing to make bold moves to redefine the party’s future.
“It’s not just the lies we’ve heard; it’s also the actions—or lack thereof—that matter. Biden definitely dropped the ball when it mattered most,” he asserted.
Charlamagne also proposed names like Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart as potential candidates, calling for a fresh approach that diverges from traditional politics. He emphasized the need for a leader who can genuinely engage with the electorate.
“I would love to see Jon Stewart run in 2028. If we’re talking about someone who can disrupt the status quo, he fits the bill perfectly,” Charlamagne said. He also mentioned Democratic governors such as Josh Shapiro and Wes Moore as promising figures the party could consider moving forward.
Reflecting on Harris’s future, he acknowledged that while she might have a path to leadership, her current focus should be on building a stronger connection with voters, perhaps even through writing or podcasting. “I think it would be great for her to write a book or start a podcast. Honestly, who knows what will happen in 2028? The Democrats really need to regroup,” he concluded.
