Ohio’s Tax-Free Holiday in Montgomery County
Montgomery County is currently enjoying Ohio’s tax-free holiday, allowing shoppers to purchase eligible items without paying taxes, a benefit that lasts until next Thursday.
These tax-free holidays aim to assist families in getting their children ready for school, a report mentioned earlier by News Center 7.
As summer winds down, sophomore Alexander Curtis is appreciating the additional playtime. “I’m going back to school,” he remarked. For his mother, Jennifer Germano, this time means gearing up for the first day of classes, with buying school supplies topping the list. She is mindful of Ohio’s extended tax-free holiday, which helps her save some money while shopping.
“A few extra days is great,” Germano said, appreciating the extended time to score the best deals.
Stephanie Carls, a retail expert, shared insights on shopping during this season, noting that many consumers are actively searching for bargains. She emphasized the value of taking advantage of tax-free holidays. “Back-to-school shopping can be enjoyable, but it also hits families hard financially,” Carls pointed out. “This is a built-in discount, and I certainly don’t want to miss out on it.”
To maximize savings, she recommends browsing various sales ads to identify which stores provide the best prices on necessary supplies. “You’ll still see different sales popping up,” she noted.
Building savings can also be beneficial, according to Carls. She suggests looking into credit card cashback offers or rewards programs from retailers. “For example, Target offers 20% off to college students who sign up for their free Circle Rewards program,” she mentioned.
If you’re facing a tight budget, consider postponing certain purchases. “If you find some items aren’t needed until October or even November, waiting can be another smart way to stay within budget,” Carls advised.
As for Curtis, he’s enjoying the last days of summer while preparing for school. He emphasized the importance of establishing a consistent bedtime a few weeks ahead of classes.
