CEO leaves Cincinnati office after disturbing incident in front of employees

A Cincinnati-based company is relocating from its downtown office due to increasing violence and challenges in the area.

Victor Louis, the founder and CEO of One Logistics Network, expressed concerns about employee safety after nearly ten years in their current space. He described witnessing unsettling behavior just outside their windows.

“We’ve seen people brandishing weapons. It’s really alarming. The other day, we saw a chaotic scene with people shouting,” Louis recounted to local news outlet WCPO 9News.

Additional incidents have made the situation untenable. In one shocking case, Louis mentioned a person defecating in front of his employees while they were simply walking by.

This decision to move came on the heels of a violent altercation that left a woman unconscious on the street. The altercation, which was caught on video, drew public scrutiny and ignited tensions, especially as there were accusations of racial slurs during the fight.

Louis’s frustration reached a peak after this incident; he felt compelled to relocate his 35 employees to Blue Ash, a suburb of Cincinnati.

“What happened was just the tip of the iceberg. If cities can’t manage basic issues like potholes and graffiti, how can we expect them to handle violent crime effectively?” he remarked.

In his communications with city officials, Louis criticized the lack of response to his concerns, claiming that despite numerous outreach attempts, he received no substantial help. Instead, a representative merely provided him with a vague promise of future assistance.

He cautioned that if local leadership doesn’t take action, more businesses are likely to flee downtown.

“This is no longer a welcoming place for businesses,” Louis stated. “If changes aren’t made, more companies will follow suit.”

A Cincinnati native, he originally chose the downtown area for its vibrant environment and even purchased a condo there in 2019. However, he noted that the rise in violent incidents has detracted from that initial appeal.

Recently, reports emerged of six individuals being charged in connection with the brutal event that took place on Cincinnati Street. Disturbing footage showed a woman lying injured, adding to a concerning atmosphere.

Rev. Damon Lynch, a local pastor, voiced his concerns over the racial implications of the assault, emphasizing that the involvement of white individuals in the incident has fueled divisive conversations.

“When I look at mug shots of those involved, I see people who resemble me,” Lynch commented, stressing that until the full picture is revealed, ongoing racial issues persist.

Local council members have faced backlash for their remarks regarding the attack. In a response to a video of the brawl, Councillor Victoria Parks suggested that the victims “asked for that beatdown.”

This comment drew immediate criticism, including calls for Parks to resign from the Cincinnati police union, which condemned her insensitivity in celebrating violence in their city.
