Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Has a 7-Hour Playlist Featuring One Song on Repeat: 'It Aids My Deep Focus Work'

Many investors and entrepreneurs incorporate music into their daily routines. Coinbase Global Inc CEO Brian Armstrong sometimes finds himself replaying the same song repeatedly on his Spotify playlist.

How are coins traded now? I’m tracking that here.

What happened: Armstrong, who famously spent nights at Coinbase’s offices during its early days, has played a crucial role in evolving the cryptocurrency trading platform into a key player in the industry.

As a recognized leader in the cryptocurrency space, Coinbase found itself in the spotlight again recently due to rising Bitcoin prices. Armstrong is also known for advocating for regulations within the U.S. crypto sector.

A peculiar aspect of Armstrong’s success might be his music preferences. A recent leak of a Spotify playlist hinted that he has a list featuring the same song a staggering 60 times.

“From the Spotify leak—I’ve got a 7-hour playlist filled with just one song. It helps me focus deeply; not sure why,” he mentioned in a Tweet.

Armstrong seems to have confirmed the existence and utility of this distinctive playlist for his work.

The song on repeat in Armstrong’s playlist is “Hong Way Home” by music producer and DJ Gareth Emery. The track runs for 7 minutes and 25 seconds, making the entire playlist around 7.5 hours long.

Emery took to social media to express his appreciation for Armstrong’s choice.

“This is amazing! When I wrote it, many suggested cutting it down since seven minutes felt excessive. I’m glad they didn’t,” Emery tweeted.

Why is it important: Panama playlists showcase song selections from CEOs and politicians. Armstrong is among those who have confirmed the authenticity of the leak.

This situation raises questions about Spotify’s privacy settings, which allow users to share playlists with friends and the public.

Reportedly, Armstrong has 10 public playlists. Among other favorites, he enjoys tracks like:

  • “Two Suns in the Sky” by Dabi
  • “All the Greatest Love” by Whitney Houston
  • “Sol” by Preda
  • “Wait” from the original Broadway cast of Hamilton
  • “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper

As for music selections, Armstrong’s picks could be considered less embarrassing than those from others. For fans of Bitcoin, perhaps the 7:25 track “The Long Road” could also fuel some future meetings.
