Megan Kelly Criticizes Beyoncé’s Ad Campaign

Megan Kelly recently expressed her disapproval of Beyoncé, labeling her new look in a recent Levi’s ad as “artificial” and “fake.” Kelly’s comments follow a long-running feud with the pop icon.

The former Fox News host commented on social media, stating, “This is the opposite of Sydney Sweeney ads. Obviously, there’s nothing natural about Beyoncé.” Her remarks came soon after an ad featuring Sweeney, the blonde-haired actress from “White Lotus.”

However, Kelly seemed particularly critical of Beyoncé’s transformation. She stated, “From her image to her fame, her success, and her appearance, everything is purchased and paid for. Screams, fakes, enhancements, hard work.”

Meanwhile, Sweeney’s advertising has sparked controversy, with some fans arguing that the interplay of “jeans” and “genes” promotes harmful cosmetic standards.

Over the weekend, former President Trump referred to Sweeney’s ad as the “hottest ad” and noted the rise in Republican registration, with America’s Eagle stock reportedly climbing by about 30% after garnering Trump’s support.

In defense of the campaign, American Eagle emphasized that the ads are “about jeans, and always were, her jeans. Her story.” They highlighted their commitment to showcasing how everyone wears jeans with confidence.

Earlier this year, during an appearance on Australia’s Sky News, Kelly accused Beyoncé of “playing the victim.” This followed a situation where a podcaster criticized Beyoncé’s venture into country music during her world tour.

Kelly voiced her frustration, claiming, “Beyoncé is reinventing herself as a country star and pushing boundaries.” She further argued that the singer often seeks validation as a victim, especially regarding her recent foray into the genre.

Despite her criticism, it’s noteworthy that Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman to reach number one on the Hot Country Songs charts with her single, “Texas Hold’Em.” Her album “Cowboy Carter” has received both commercial and critical acclaim, dominating the Billboard 200 and winning significant awards.

Beyoncé’s collaboration with Levi’s draws inspiration from iconic commercials from the ’80s and ’90s, featuring her in various film-like scenarios, including riding a motorcycle and appearing in a laundromat. Observers assert that her partnership has greatly enhanced Levi’s visibility and sales, particularly among younger, fashion-conscious audiences.
