Fan Arrests Fail to Deter Tossing of Adult Toys at WNBA Games

Despite recent arrests, fans still seem undeterred from tossing adult toys during WNBA games. On Tuesday night, incidents at both Barclays Center and the Crypto.com Arena involved what appeared to be a green dildo being thrown during the match between the Liberty and the Wings.

During the game in Los Angeles, some fans seemed to be enjoying their antics, as a toy landed on the court while the Indiana team was preparing for an inbound play in the second quarter. Kelsey Plum, a player for the Sparks, even kicked an object off the playing field.

According to video footage, while the Liberty prevailed over the Wings, it was reported that several adult toys were thrown into the stands, although they didn’t actually make it onto the court itself.

The Liberty declined to comment on the matter when asked.

The incidents have stirred complaints from players like Sophie Cunningham and Angel Reese. After some questionable tosses occurred at their recent games, Cunningham took to social media to voice her concerns. “Stop throwing dildos on the court,” she tweeted over the weekend. “You might hurt one of us.”

In a related incident, a 23-year-old fan named Delbert Carver was arrested during the Dream vs. Valkyries game on July 29. He faces multiple charges, including disorderly conduct and public indecency.

Player Isabel Harrison expressed her dismay on social media, stating that such antics pose unnecessary safety risks for athletes. “I think players should always be put first,” she said. “This behavior isn’t just unsafe; it’s also quite immature. This is a professional environment.” She emphasized that incidents like these need more serious attention.

Interestingly, Harrison mentioned that she had never personally experienced any objects being thrown during a game before. “I just hadn’t even thought about it,” she reflected. “But it’s concerning that it’s not just bottles or shoes—it’s something far more alarming. It bothers me that people might think it’s just a joke, but we really need to see the bigger picture. My work is serious, and I know many other players feel the same way.”
