David Zander’s Summer Rental and New Home Sale

Film and television producer David Zander, who recently purchased a historic home in Los Angeles, is now renting a newly constructed mirror home in East Hampton’s George Ca Estate for the summer.

In an interesting turn of events, the Zander rental has found new owners. Real estate broker and “Million Dollar Listing” star Josh Flagg, along with childhood friend Justin Greenberg, have reportedly agreed to buy the property for around $8.5 million, as noted by sources.

Zander is known as the president and co-founder of MJZ, a global production company focused on commercials, music videos, feature films, and television. He grabbed headlines in the Hamptons when Jackie Kennedy Onassis sold his childhood summer home to fashion designer Tom Ford in 2023 for a whopping $52 million.

Xander made waves earlier this year as well, purchasing Rod Stewart’s former mansion for $57 million, with additional land selling for $29 million, making the total $86 million.

The six-bedroom East Hampton home was initially listed at $10.85 million last year and, after some negotiation, recently went for about $9.15 million. Sources say the buyer signed the contract just a week after viewing it.

This spacious residence spans 4,400 square feet and features a 1,500-square-foot covered terrace, a pool, a pool house, and a garage. Designed by architect Brian Glasser and built by renowned local architect Phil Kaufmann, it boasts unique details, like a sink that formerly belonged to Billy Joel.

A friend of Flagg’s mentioned plans for renovations to give the home a more “traditional” feel, adding some character as if it had been around for a century.

The residence showcases a grand foyer leading to an impressive room with 38 feet of accordion doors that open onto a covered porch with herringbone bluestone flooring, an outdoor fireplace, automated screens, and a barbecue area.

Inside, the first floor includes a chef’s kitchen, a prep kitchen, a breakfast nook, and a junior primary suite. Moving to the second floor, the main bedroom is enhanced by a private balcony.

Downstairs, there’s a recreation room, wine storage, two guest bedrooms, and a spacious laundry room.

Martha Gundersen and Paul Brennan served as the listing brokers.

This month, Flagg is renting in Sagaponack after a trip to southern France. He will celebrate his birthday with a gathering at Sagaponack rentals near a notable general store. Among the attendees will be Candace Pelling, as the original mansion just sold for $110 million to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

Flagg’s latest Hamptons deal follows his recent acquisition of retail space at Soho’s 170 Mercer St. in partnership with Andrew Aryeh and David Elbez, which closed on Christmas Eve.
