John Cena Opens Up About Hair Transplant Following Fan Criticism
John Cena, the 48-year-old WWE icon, has addressed the negative comments regarding his hair loss. He revealed that he opted for a hair transplant after facing ridicule from wrestling fans about his baldness.
“I was hearing the remarks, ‘Bald John Cena’,” he shared. “It really pushed me to explore what my options were.”
Cena underwent the hair transplant procedure last November and has since incorporated various hair care routines, including red light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoos, and conditioners into his daily life.
He expressed no regrets about the decision, detailing how the process involved relocating hair follicles from one area to another. He reflected, “I wish I had done it sooner instead of letting the stigma hold me back. It turns out that seven or eight out of ten men deal with hair thinning.”
Cena stated, “If anyone criticizes me for this choice, I don’t see any shame in it. It totally transformed my life.”
He also noted that his journey in acting has provided new opportunities, allowing him to explore different hairstyles that suit his roles better.
Considering his retirement from wrestling this year, Cena acknowledged that age played a significant role in his decision. “I’m not as strong or quick as I used to be. I made a vow to myself when I started out—I wanted to step away on my own terms,” he explained.
In April, he disclosed to fans that the bullying he experienced had led him to undergo “surgical procedures.” Reflecting on that era, he said, “It made me feel small and embarrassed, and that’s just straight-up bullying. But thank you for motivating me to get a hair replacement.”
