Trump reiterates his assertion that Kimmel and Fallon are 'next' following Stephen Colbert's cancellation

Trump Predicts Fallon and Kimmel Will Be Next to Get Canceled

During a press conference on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump asserted that late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel could be the next targets for cancellation.

This discussion arose when reporter Brian Glenn inquired about speculation surrounding radio host Howard Stern potentially leaving Sirius XM after his contract concludes this fall. Glenn then questioned whether the “Trump Trump” entertainment model had seen a decline in popularity among viewers.

Trump pointed to CBS’s recent announcement about the cancellation of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” as a sign of changing tides, suggesting Fallon and Kimmel might follow suit. “Well, that’s not really going well,” Trump remarked, emphasizing that Colbert’s style had been struggling for some time. He expressed his belief that he could easily find someone more talented among the general public than Colbert.

“Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent. They’re next. They’re going,” Trump stated bluntly.

Following Colbert’s cancellation, Trump had made a similar comment regarding the current landscape of late-night shows. He claimed, “The word, and it’s a strong word, is that Kimmel’s neighbors are entering a serious late-night sweepstakes, and Fallon will soon follow.” He described these hosts as lacking talent, criticizing what he saw as their destructive impact on television.

Some liberal commentators suggested that CBS’s decision to cancel Colbert was politically motivated, aimed at appeasing Trump. However, they later acknowledged it was likely a financial choice made by Paramount, CBS’s parent company.

As for Stern, Trump reflected on his past appearance on the show, noting that he felt Stern’s popularity declined after supporting Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. “He lost his audience. People really felt he changed after that,” Trump commented.
