Greg Gutfeld Shares Experience of Being 'Drunk' and 'Wrestling' Jimmy Fallon on 'Tonight Show'

Greg Gutfeld Remembers a Wild Encounter with Jimmy Fallon

On Thursday, Fox News host Greg Gutfeld shared a memory of a spirited moment with NBC’s Jimmy Fallon, describing a time when both were, well, a bit tipsy.

Fallon had Gutfeld on for a light-hearted chat on his late-night show, which often pokes fun at President Donald Trump and his followers. During their conversation, Gutfeld reminisced about their first meeting. He mentioned that Fallon seemed “too vain” back then, recalling a lively exchange in Hell’s Kitchen.

“I walked into this bar with my friend Andy after shooting something. I looked around, probably thinking something like, ‘What on earth did you do?’ Then I saw you, your eyes lit up, and you came charging at me,” Gutfeld said.

He then opened up about his career journey, including how he’d been let go from various jobs before landing in the late-night space. Gutfeld emphasized how supportive his mother, Jackie, has been throughout it all.

“She was there for everything I pursued. It’s like how your mom would be. It’s pretty significant,” Gutfeld reflected. “She switched on the TV and caught me on ‘The Five.’ She might have missed some shows, but maybe that’s for the best,” he added.

Fallon responded with genuine praise, saying, “No, she’s probably really proud of you. Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished. That’s really something!”

Interestingly, Gutfeld’s show has been outperforming traditional late-night programming, drawing in an average of 3.1 million viewers as of July. In contrast, Colbert and Fallon averaged about 1.9 million and 1.5 million, respectively. This shift in ratings has raised eyebrows, especially with Colbert facing potential cancellation in 2026 for financial reasons.

In a similar light-hearted vein, Fallon once famously tussled with Trump during a September 2016 interview, where he playfully ruffled the then-candidate’s hair. Later, he had to apologize to fans who felt he had gone too easy on Trump during that conversation.

“They have every right to be upset,” Fallon acknowledged in a 2017 interview.

He would later clarify his intentions, expressing a desire to “minimize” Trump rather than “normalize” him during that time. In response to criticism, Trump suggested Fallon grow up and stop complaining.
