Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband, Passes Away at 48
Kelly Clarkson is grieving the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who has passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of 48. The singer is reportedly heartbroken, especially considering their two children.
“Kelly was protective when she found out he was ill,” a source noted. “She has always maintained her composure, even as people realized Brandon’s condition was deteriorating. It’s been particularly tough on her for the sake of the kids.”
Blackstock’s passing, which occurred after a three-year fight against cancer, adds to the complexity of their already publicized divorce. Despite their difficulties, Clarkson’s priority has always been to keep their children—River Rose and Remington Alexander—stable and shielded from the turmoil.
“The divorce was incredibly challenging for her, messy and painful,” the source revealed. “But she was determined that the children wouldn’t be caught in the crossfire. She didn’t share much about Brandon’s health with them.”
A representative for the Blackstock family offered a touching statement following his death. “It’s profoundly sad to share that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. He fought valiantly against cancer for more than three years. He left us peacefully, surrounded by family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and request privacy for the family during this difficult time.”
Recently, Clarkson announced that she needs to postpone her Las Vegas shows due to a family emergency involving Blackstock. “Sadly, we have to delay the remaining dates for our August studio session in Las Vegas,” she wrote on Instagram.
Clarkson and Blackstock had been married since 2013, but their relationship began earlier when Blackstock’s father managed her career. In 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce, and their situation was highly publicized.
The divorce was finalized in 2022, with Clarkson granted primary custody of their children and an obligation to pay $45,000 monthly in child support. In 2023, she discovered that Blackstock owed her over $2.6 million stemming from various contracts during his management.
