Divorce Battle Involves Former MLB Pitcher Carl Pavano
A former MLB pitcher’s divorce has taken a contentious turn. Carl Pavano and his ex-wife Alyssa are embroiled in a fierce dispute related to a prenuptial agreement. Alyssa has accused Carl of pressuring her into signing what she describes as a one-sided contract.
Alyssa claims she “relinquished all housing, potential employment, and financial independence” due to what she describes as Carl’s “continued controlling behavior.” This included derogatory name-calling, limiting her finances, and even threats regarding their children.
It’s even more troubling that police have reportedly visited their apartment complex in Connecticut nine times in the last two years, with the most recent call occurring on April 29th, according to sources.
Alyssa’s attorney commented on the situation, indicating that while a prenuptial agreement is a legitimate way to address financial matters before marriage, it shouldn’t be used as leverage against a spouse who’s already started a family, potentially putting their financial stability and the well-being of their children at risk.
After a brief consultation with a lawyer, Alyssa had the signing of the prenuptial agreement recorded, as noted in court documents. State Superior Court Judge Thomas O’Neill ruled the agreement valid, awarding Alyssa $300,000 and directing Carl to purchase a home worth $1 million. Court records indicate Carl’s net worth exceeded $43 million when the trial began.
Although they signed the prenup not long after their marriage in 2011, their divorce proceedings began in 2024, with that judgment coming down last year.
Pavano’s career highlights include playing for teams such as the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Minnesota Twins, where he was named an All-Star in 2004. However, his time with the Yankees was marked by limited success, leading many to consider him one of the team’s less favorable signings.
