Greg Gutfeld Appears on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ Following His Critique of Stephen Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Cancellation

Gutfeld’s Visit to Fallon’s Show

Fox host Greg Gutfeld made an appearance on Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon recently, coinciding with President Trump’s notable political maneuver after CBS’s surprising cancellation of a show. This followed an earlier instance where Trump criticized Fallon and other liberal late-night hosts, particularly Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

As Gutfeld stepped onto the stage, he shared a warm hug with Fallon. Oddly enough, they didn’t dive into discussions about Trump or any political matters, nor did they bring up Gutfeld’s recent remarks regarding CBS. It was kind of nostalgic for Gutfeld, recalling when he first met Fallon 15 years ago during an event at Hell’s Kitchen.

“You might not remember, but that’s fine,” he quipped to Fallon. “It felt like we were in some intense special operations, trying to waterboard terrorists—but in a fun way, of course.”

Fallon chuckled at Gutfeld’s comedic reflection on their careers, mentioning Gutfeld’s journey back to Fox as the host of “Late Night Show,” and then more recently with Gutfeld!.

Interestingly, neither host addressed the recent CBS cancellation that had seen Trump pointing out that “Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them,” including a jab at the NBC personality who once messed up Tonight’s Show.

Gutfeld joked about his spot as a late-night host, noting that unlike others, Jimmy’s willingness to sit with him shows he’s unafraid of alienating his colleagues or being charmed, in his own words. He also criticized Colbert’s Late Show for its cancellation, claiming it was a direct result of the political and anti-Trump slant of the commentary.

“They didn’t just cancel a show. They shut everything down,” Gutfeld stated, painting a picture of the abruptness of the situation—imagine getting your favorite meal abruptly taken away.

In contrast to Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon has avoided heavy political themes in his comedy. But he did express support for Colbert after the news of his show’s cancellation.

“I don’t like it. These are crazy times,” Fallon remarked back in July.

Catch Tonight’s Show with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, airing weekdays at 11:35/10:35c.
